Yakityak's Bog Standard Charoset

Pareve Pesach

This is the charoset I make every year. I always hear "I don't like Ashkenazi charoset, but I like your charoset," which... I don't understand because this really is bog standard for it as far as I know. Anyway, knock yourself out.

Ingredients

  • 4 firm red apples, peeled, cored, cut into chunks
  • 2 cups pecans, broken (approx. 1/2 lb or 245 g)
  • 1 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp ground allspice
  • 1/4 tsp ground cloves
  • fresh grated nutmeg to taste (I am sparing)
  • just enough Manishewitz concord wine to get it to clump together

Method

Put the apple chunks in a food processor and pulse to chop. Do NOT puree. Stubborn larger pieces should be minced by hand rather than erring on the side of puree. Put the chopped apples in a large bowl and season with the rest of the ingredients. Do not add too much of the Manishewitz.
